Hey guys just wondering what your favourite high speed spinning reel is.
Looking at going to steep point and trying to decide what reel to get for mackies

 Fastest Reels under $300

Fastest Reels under $300 most of them are daiwas, with line retrieve all around 120+cm/per turn. plenty of 100cm+/per if your happy with those.

Gav,

i recently just came back from up there 2 weeks ago, i actually brought a sustain 5000 and found it to be perfect. it was undergunned when your mackies got taken by sharks tho

but best of all its light enough to cast all day best of all you can pick up on from the net for under 300.

if you want something bigger i brought my dad a saltist 4500h and that worked flawlessly as well

but i guess im lazy!!!

As mentioned above, there's plenty to choose from. What's your budget and what rod is it to go on; and what size line you plan on running??

Here's a few we recommend;

Daiwa Saltist Spin

Ryobi Safari 5000A

Pflueger Infusion SS

saltist 6500

Fri, 2011-01-07 18:50

Hey Mate I have the saltist 6500 and gave it a fair bit of abuse at quobba last year stood up to the test to any mackie and got sharked with it a few times also running 50lb braid.  I just put a saltiga power knob on it should go even faster now but the standard knob is ok.

I think the daiwa emblem pro 5500 has a high speed also with a long cast spool.

but for what you want the saltist (dogfights little brother) is my pick

dont pay any more than $289

Daiwa Emblem Pro 5500

Daiwa Emblem Pro 5500 is a great cheaper option, we have giving these reels heaps over the last few years and they just take it, a great cheaper option you can also upgrade the uncomfortable standard knob as well.

Abit short and light for the top of the rocks, but pretty much would say something in the daiwa 4000 range, the saltist 4500, or shimano 4000-6000 stradic fi

saltist 4500 is the same price as the 6500 and has a bit slower retrieve, weight wise not much difference
