gooood Friday session
The weather came good for good Friday so of course we headed out in search of new ground and some different species. It was a bit rough heading out but it soon calmed down and the fish came on .
First drift resulted in a couple of freight trains that Sandy hooked but handed the rod over to me . Both of which I thaught were big trevs but turned out to be a couple of big chinaman. Second drift resulted in a school mackeral and numerous small fish that all released well then I had a double of small grassies that got followed by a shark I estimated at about 12 feet, time to move on . Found a fair bit of ground to fish but mainly small ones until sandy hooked up again to another horse of a fish which ended with a 3rd chinaman. Ended up over towards a spot we had fished before and managed a few nice grassies and then as Sandy had put her rod in the holder it doubled over with line screaming out. Without question I knew Sandy couldn't handle this one I grabbed the rod with the line peeling out and heading away from us I called it a shark but no , after a 10 minute fight in only 20 mtrs of water a big gold spot cod came to the surface, it went 830mm so we called it a day. The usual story , Sandy hooked them and I fought them so it was a tag team effort

Good Bag!
How do the chinaman go on the chew? I caught a couple of monsters a few years back but released as had heard of ciguatera, but apparently only affects fish on east coast?
They bloody go hard thats for sure!

Yep
Chinaman are the numero uno risk for Ciguetera, but all good to go in WA. The closer you get to the NT border the more the risk increase, but in the Pilbarra all good.
And not bad on the chew.

Great haul Russ, not a dig
Great haul Russ, not a dig but might be a better pic if you washed all the blood off.
