Furuno FCV 585

Well guys I have decided to take the plunge and buy a Furuno 585 fishfinder. Does anyone know where to get one ( on the net or shop ) and if there is any sales on at the moment for this unit. Want to get a 1 kw transom mount transducer with it.

Cheers
Brodie

little heads up

Wed, 2008-10-22 08:37

with dollar rate now at 70cents and new stock arriving soon, you better get in before you see a 20% jump in prices.... ( a little tweety bird has warned me...)

Go FCV585 on run out stock and a 1kw tranny, it will last you years...

Hi everyone This is my first

Wed, 2008-10-22 20:14

Hi everyone

This is my first post so please be nice would not like my head bitten on first time on

I have been reading with interest about the 585s just like to make a few points which might be of interest to you all

if you buy from interstate you mite have a problem with warranty  as taylors will charge for warranty if not purchased in WA

and yes the cost of the units have been increased because of the dollar about 20% old retail price for the 585 $ 2145.00 plus trans 135.00 for 600kw tm the new price will be in the range of $ 2500.00 plus trans

1kw trans with stainless steel bracket is about $ 750.00 they were made in NZ so i was told

last yes i do have one with the 1 kw and am very happy with it

all I'm really saying is really do the home work on the whole package

I was telling the boys

Thu, 2008-10-23 23:18

I was telling the boys yesterday about the great prices at Totally Wild for the 585 with 1kw and bracket, however I wasnt aware of the price increase.

Maybe Russ could work out a better price for a fishwrecked bulk buy of say 3 or 4 units?

Cheers, Al.

foruno update

Wed, 2008-10-22 20:33

hey guys..

well i learnt alot today , i took  some "older guys" (me mates jimbo and buddah) out fishing, great blokes, very experienced, one thing i did learn is the sounding of ground, i thought i had my setup pretty good,

well turns out quite the opposite,, me ol mate changed this n that, ranges/zooms, etc and wow i seriously couldnt believe it, we were fishing a range of ground today, even sounding ground doing 20knots..

the had nice flares on the bottom lock and we reduced the transducer rate from 1kw to 600w,fishing 40-50m,seriously worked so much better, clearer, set the bottom lock to 3metres, clutter 20%, gain on manual, about 2-3 perfect..

this ol mate of mine never used this type of sounder but was skippering a fishing charter for a few yrs, and i learnt a great deal from him today.

awesome sounders..

even better now.lol

best thing about today, was i didnt even skipper, yup

jimbo drove, put us on the fish, moved around etc, i absolutly had a ball.

make your own bracket

Fri, 2008-10-24 11:17

I went for a big 1kw commercial dual freq tranducer and had a bracket made for it.
This set up gives me a perfect clear bottom lock at 20knots ( around my top speed on the tin-palace) and crystal clear views in deep water as well.

Tony

go to my NT gallery for a few pics of the set up.
