Fuel Prices
Submitted by Dale on Sat, 2017-01-07 22:56
had a bit of a look on fuelwatch today to find a place tomorrow for fuel. I usually fuel up with 98 but the price for that is crazy just now, so I was looking for prices for 95Pulp. Fuelling on Monday is no good since my current roster is 5/2. But back to fuelwatch. The cheapest for 95 tomorrow is 131.9 and that is at Caltex Woolworths Busselton, in fact in the top 10, 4 were in Busselton. My good wife had a laugh. I thought ok, let's see about 91 fuel, best price, Busselton. What the Fark is going on.

It's called robbery
What's going on with fuel prices is called robbery, most people when they commit robbery get a couple of years behind bars. When a couple of big corporations do it they get fantastically rich, their CEOs get massive pay rises and shares as a bonus there's no mystery to it.

there is a solution!
its called face book ,or other ways of getting the message out , but would need to be on a massive scale untill the media & gov. could not ignore

The petrol giants
The petrol giants are immune to public outrage, it's like water of a ducks back. They know that we may scream and yell for the government to do something but the gov wont.
It's called the free capitalist market and that's the way it is, how many times have you seen industry saying we don't need government intervention we are self regulating (which means who gives a shit about fair trading/profit etc) if we (petrol companies/retailers) are big enough we can shut out any competition that wants to rock the status of the game, and they have.
I would dearly like someone to sit down with me and explain why we can have three different prices applicable to the one tank of fuel in a servo and that varies from day to day, how why.

That's one thing I like about
That's one thing I like about living in Leinster (there isn't much else to like), the fuel station set its unleaded price to 139.9 about 18 months ago when city prices dropped, and its been there since. 98 is 159.9 I think (not sure about diesel), but there is no surprises when you go to the fuel station, it is what it is. Day to day price variations in the city (and often quite substantial) is the biggest rort I've seen.

And if they can set and
And if they can set and forget out here, why can't they do the same elsewhere?

Willare roadhouse 189.9 take it or leave it never changes. Deisel in Halls Creek same price as Broome even though it is freighted via Broome fuel depot.

Mandurah prices today
Robbing swines price today 143.9 at most servos. That will make a few people planning on going out on the estuary for a bit of drop netting and a cruise around think more about it.

If you have the fuelwatch
If you have the fuelwatch app you could have known at 4pm yesterday that the price was going up today and filled up!

I wouldn't like to be planning a budget for going around the big A today, how could you budget for fuel prices.

It's these time that make me
It's these time that make me so glad to have a work paid fuel card and a bloke that fills up for me every Thursday. Only time I visit a fuel station is for snacks or to fill up the boat after my miserly Suzuki takes a sip from the tank

I JUST cant get my head
I JUST cant get my head around how it can change on a daily basis.
A tanker comes in to a station. Fills the tank for that station. The price at the time is $?. OK, now you have paid for the whole lot, ie the price for that huge amount of fuel is set, and IMO paid for.
Then Why in F can that vary. The FN fuel is already in there. So why is Mr 1 litre sitting next to Mrs 1 litre in the tank worth more one day compared to the next.
I don't know if tankers come every day to these stations.
Analogy - fishmonger gets a nice Red emp - fillets it, sells the one fillet on one day for say $40/kg (that would be cheap) and the other the next day for 60.
It doesn't make sense.

The same reason that banks
The same reason that banks never pass on the full interest rate cut but always add extra onto interest rate rises. Unchecked and orchestrated corporate greed.
The majority of us can’t go without fuel or a mortgage and they just simply have us by the balls and our government is unable or unwilling to do anything apart from launch yet another investigation or enquiry.
