Fresh water licence

Going breaming with Damo6230 on the weekend on the Blackwood. When does the need for a freshwater licence kick in. Only bank fished there before and never bothered checking - it's pretty saline miles up so maybe it's not a necessity. Any comments?

But I dont think you need it for bream fishing? If you catch any trout then I would put them back as the blackwood is covered as a freshwater body for trout. For $20 or $22 or whatever it is, why not get it?
And if you get a rock lobster license etc, for like $80 (I think) you can get one to cover the lot - abs, freshwater, lobster, marron. Money well spent IMO if you dabble in all of them.

Yeah, i asked fisheries
Yeah, i asked fisheries about this for the aust day long weekend. got the same sort of advice. the woman i spoke to wasn't full bottle on it but advised me to return any trout to the water. I asked the question about redfin pearch (because you're not allowed to return them to the water on acount of them being a pest) and she rekoned i could get in trouble for having them and rekoned if i caught any to throw the delisious little buggers on the bank. Crazy, but thems the breaks.

its an estuary system although all freshwater fish will go back unless you have a license. wont be going much past alexandra campground mate and thats still estuarine. still spawing i would like after last trip 2 weeks ago.yeh you need a freshie license if fishing for trout/redfin further upstream.
I don't have a freshie license myself
you'll be to busy baiting my hooks to worry anyways...ha ha

prefer HB myself and use them mostly now
but haven't fished with Ian so start from the beginning.
good to just be out.
last trip 2 weeks ago I cleaned up on HB's.

When i was marroning down on the blackwood over summer had a fisheries guy come down and i had a chat to him. I had a rod out around where i was marroning as i had stumbled apon a population of comletely freshwater BIG bream way above the tidal influence and the crossing. Needless to say they were to smart for me and just ate my marron pellets. Anyway he said you dont need a licence downsteam from Great North Rd crossing as that is the upper limit of the tidal influence. And you get most black bream downstream from there anyway.

no licence - i don't like trout and Damo will only only get his hooks baited if i'm not busy changing my colostomy bag.
