Footy season
Well she's starting to get to the pointy end...
Big game coming up this week with Richmond V Geelong...
Could very well be the game that sets up the top 4...
Danger game for the Eagles this week against the Saints, a game they should win...
Port all but locked into top two and in my opinion the team to beat...
Geelong are flying and one more win will secure top 4 same for the Lions ( unless the Eagles have two big wins )
Richmond can't go to sleep now otherwise the Eagles could relegate them to 5th and a straight sets exit would go down like a lead balloon...
Melbourne still have a glimmer of hope, It looks like they are the only team outside the 8 that could steal a T8 finish...
Collingwoods draw against Richmond could be very handy to slot them inside the 8....

I agree Eagles have
I agree Eagles have benefitted hugely from the bye but don't agree that we get looked after by the VFL. 5 games in 19 days isn't exactly a soft draw but because of that we get a longer break now.
A couple of the players might have been fit without the bye but certainly not all of them. No guarantee that Hutchings and Jetta will get a game anyway. I think this year the bye will good for all teams that play finals. Normally I don't think it's a good idea.

Dave you always give an unbiased opinion.
I think all the teams ( maybe barring Geelong who have a terrible post bye record ) will benefit from the bye.
WC deserve an advantage anyway, they finished 5th so a longer break, home final etc it's all how it should be.
I hope we see a great game and may the best team win.
Lunch out for Tigers is a big out. Very hard to pick a winner now.

I try to be unbiased Boonie. I'm a one-eyed WCE supporter with soft spot for Geelong as I grew up there. I just call it for what I see and admit when I make a mistake. We've all yelled at umpires at times and then watched the replay and give them credit for picking up what we have missed.
I obviously want to see the Eagles win (doubt they can) but if not then Geelong (unlikely and then watch for blood in the water), followed by Brissie and then Port. Please anyone but Richmond again!

The rest / break period is
The rest / break period is all fair after the congested period of games as Geelong & Co did there stint earlier in the season.
The injuries is a concern, halve the team are down for Test...although they are getting a lot of players back some will have dropped some match fitness and I'm sure if it wasn't finals could possible be out another week.
Hamstrings are a big worry...
The pies on the other hand will be ready to roll, should be a lot tighter game compared to last they played.
Pity I cant bring myself to follow them.....Not keen on Richmond winning another, Ill go with Port for the GF win.

Lets hope so, although I am a Pies member and would love for them to be competitive we lack a big strong forward
I also appreciate good footy (so hopefully AFL stops screwing with the game} but can't understand why teams who play Eagles keep bombing the ball in high to the forward line, it happens week after week and your boys just pick it off
Perhaps Buckley can send Moore forward and Mihocek back, who knows, but I just can't see how we can win unless we just somther you guys Sydney style.

Richmond and Bulldogs have us
Richmond and Bulldogs have us sorted out by cutting us up through the middle spreading off half back with leg speed and precise 20m kicks. Pies problem is that you have two butchers in Treloar and Adams in there and Pendles isn't exactly lightning fast.
Pies would be better off scrubbing the ball forward and allowing the small forwards to get the ground ball and zoning off for the turnover to lock it in. That then brings the West Coast forward line up the ground and holds them up when they break through the zone assisting the turnover.
It always ounds simple on paper anyway...

Lets hope Buckley reads your post Jack, sadly we don't have a lot of speed to spread off half back
As for Pendles not being lightning fast, he doesn't need to be, the man is a magician the way he buys time and space.

Not a knock on Pendles but
Not a knock on Pendles but stating that he isn't quick enough to break the line so if we can make sure he doesn't get the ball forward of centre it means he's either kicking it in long or hitting up Trealor, Adams and co closer to goal.

I wouldnt say he choked
I wouldnt say he choked Bill, he had more marks inside 50 than Port for the game, I think he hit the post twice from tough shots. He did fuck that snap shot up but the rest of his kicks were from a tough spot.
One observation I made last night was regardless of having that beast Dixon in their forward half not once can I recall they actually put the ball up high into fwd 50, everytime it went in it was a low 40M kick to leading forward which FINALLY a team has realised that kicking high to top of the square hasn't worked for ten years even with a big marking target as with the congestion players generally cant get a good run to take a hang ( Liam Ryan might be an acception but he's just fucking good )....
Frustrated the fuck out of me anytime the Hawks would do it as none of their fwds are renowned big pack markers so why keep at it...
Something to be said about a scrubber kick that is unpredictable, the forwards aren't under pressure the backs are so let them make a mistake and hopoefully capitalise...
Anyway was a good game, lets just keep my multi rolling

Yeah I'm hoping same Frost,
Yeah I'm hoping same Frost, and I think they will...
The pressure is mounting at the Cats, some big decisions regarding their list next season. Scott has achieved fuck all since winning a flag in his first year.
They have plenty of picks to get some players thanks to the Kelly trade to Eagles but you'd imagine Ablett, Taylor, Henderson, Stevens, Jenkins will all fly the coup being over 30 and form slumps...
Pies will come in with nothing to lose, beating the Eagles in the West will have them up and about.
Until I saw the Saints yesterday I would have thought Richmond will smash em but I think the Saints will also go alright there if they can play another game like yesterday...

The thing is
The thing is swompa.....theres nothing worse than the game being decided by a bad decision by the umpires in the dying minutes....always inside 50m to....as you know its happened a few times this season as us dockers supporters got hammered for it if ya remember...but guess what, should never have been in the situation to start with is the reply!!
It happens over and over again..I swear last night one of the frees for holding the ball would not have been paid 5 or 10 min into the game, but they seem to pay them when the game is on the line, growing up on rugby league I've found the umpires can turn a game so easily in AFL and to me they have done many times through the year.
Well I'm hoping for a Port V Brisbane GF.
Keen to see how our two teams fair next year already..
