flathead fishing

hey guys,

im going flathead fishing tomorrow and i wanna know what is the best way to catch them, im more then likey gonna be using bait, what bait should i use?, and where in the swan river is the best?

imo better off flicking baby vibes or soft plastics around point walter area for best success with flatties, bait they seem to be few and far between jmo

try put your line in the water, the best way to catc.h sumfin. but if using bait try using prawns below a small ball weight. slowly pulling it down a drop off. otherwise find some sand flats and throw some diver lures around the drop offs

If your keen on using bait try a white bait or a blue bait on a small set of gangs on running sinker rig with just enough weight to reach the bottom. Cast to likely looking areas and work with a slow retrieve, Fish drop offs close to sand flats and areas of shallow broken ground... be prepared for plenty off blowfish between flatties tho..

try using a prawn like lure called the prawnstar.they go for about 10 bucks each but they work really well with flathead and blowies tend to leave them alone.i find the best time to target flaties is not at morning or night its more about the turn of the tide.good luck happy fishing
