Fishing Petition

I am just putting this example of a petition for offroader to view.  Hope this is now to your liking.

But i am done with you, my time is better spent than bickering with the likes of you.

I, Joe Amato of in the State of Western Australia, am the promoter this petition which

contains 1000 signatures.

PETITION IN RELATION TO NEW RECREATONAL FISHING FEES

To the President and Members of the Legislative Council of the Parliament of Western Australia in

Parliament assembled. HON NORMAN MOORE (Mining and Pastoral. Leader of the House)

We the undersigned residents of Western Australia are opposed to into ducting the new fishing

fees in which Its 100 officers will have to oversee more than 600,000 recreational fishers and 50 commercial operations

on over 12,500km of coastline under a licensing decree issued this week, according to principal management officer Nathan

Harrison.

From mid-October, anyone fishing from a boat will need a $30 permit and those chasing demersal, or bottom-dwelling scale

fish, will need to purchase additional licences.

A demersal licence costs $20 a day or $150 a year. Keen fishers could be hit with up to $400 in extra bills each year. Demersal

fishing has also been banned from October 15 to December 15 from Kalbarri to Augusta.

Your petitioners therefore respectfully request the Legislative Council to recommend a better

alternative to this.

Examples of this are as follows:

Putting demersal fish size from 500mm to 700mm, have a closed season when it is the demersal fish breeding season.

Reduce fees as a year round one off fee, lower to be more in line with the east coast, along with the 50% discount for

pensioners.

Alternatively every couple of years have a closure all together on the demersal fish breeding stock.

Also, have a log book system to keep an eye on stocks.

If fishermen work together with the fisheries department it would work.

Also lowering the bag limit.

And your petitioners as in duty bound, will ever pray.

An online petition was set up to voice concerns over the new Recreational Fishing License scheme introduced by Minister Norman Moore.

Everyone has their own opinion on the issue of protecting our fish stocks and some may see this as a good step forward, however if you think this is just a money grab and a form of financial discrimination which will do little to protect the future of our recreational fishing industry please sign the petition.

Below is the link to the petition. Once you have signed you’re directed to a donation page (just ignore that if you wish) your vote has been cast and the process is completely free.
400 signatures and counting

Just had a look at all the names on the petition

Wed, 2009-07-08 11:44

and all my friends have signed that I sent a email to, so lets hope something is going to eventuate out of our petitions, emails and letters.

Would loved to be in Moore's office on Monday or Tuesday morning with the amount of letters and emails sent, it would have been a hoot to see & be a fly on the wall with the comments coming out of our illustrious Fishing Minister mouth ha ha ha.

I know one thing by the comments on the petition that the Liberals may not be in office at the next elections?

ps ... so proud of you all friends thank you

mate, thats much better. a bit of time spent has produced a much better result. well done.

the only other suggestion i would make ( and this isnt a crack at you...so dont get upset please) , would be to use a spell check, and add in some spaces here and there, maybe a paragraph or two as well, to make it read better...

i am sure if you ask the guys on this site who publish their online magazine, they would help . its the little things that make it much better mate.

again, much better.

jabba, the information i posted goes for your petition as well.... do it right , or you will be wasting the 400 odd signatures you have

I doubt an online petition

Wed, 2009-07-08 14:14

I doubt an online petition is something you can lodge in parliment. This petition will be given to the Minister so he can see for himself what people think.

I've read the link. I don't think it would be right to tool around with the wording after so many people have signed it, and if an online petition can't be tabled it would be pointless.

I'll be printing it out and giving it to the Minister and the opposition.

That link says it all

The online petition is worthless as a means of lobbying the government. I know you're at least doing something mate - which is commendable. I just rekon with the amount of time and effort that your putting in - you at least want it to get to the minister.

The minister is already well aware that he has upset rec fisherman, which is all the online petition illustrates, and if you want any real chance of change the set critera will need to be met.

Great attitude though Jabba - keep up the good work.
