Fishing in Fiji, Cook Islands , Not for table for fun

Planning a Holiday to get away from the heat up here around Xmas. Fiji, Vanuatu, Cook Islands and New Cal on the Radar, but mostly the two above.

Any input welcomed.

Sounds cool

Might have to take a rod or 2 for the trip. For both of those need to upgrade my PE4-6 gear possibly. Would a Saragosa 14000 do the trick as a low end popper reel with GTs, or will I break it.

hahaa, i dont think so mate. You might land a couple of fish but if the big one comes along you will be screwed

ask Kelvin8tor what happened to his 18000 saragosa

Thought you might have a laugh

at that one. So the only choice is between a Saltiga SAZ Dogfight or a Stella SW 20000. Nothing else will hold up to them. I just laugh at even the thought of kelvin8tor's face when his Saragosa blew up.

Cheers Brad

as till said stella

as till said

stella 18k

there are a few other reels around mate that people use

but i guess history leads towards a doggy or an 18K

if you can get a second hand stella 1000FA that would be more than suitable as well, dont get a 1000sw however as they are very different

Stella 10k SW v's 10k FA

Mon, 2010-10-25 13:41

The 10k SW just not as beefy as the old 10k FA?

I see a few posts about popping a bigger spool on them to get some more PE8 capacity, but even still its not as hardcore an offering as the 18k?

Why do you say 18000, when they have a Stella SW20000 (STL20000SW). Is there a reason why the 18K is better for Popping than the 20K?

The 20k is for jigging

Mon, 2010-10-25 13:40

The 20k is for jigging (low-gear), the 18k is for popping (high-gear).
