fishing 3 mile

Hi guys, the weather isnt looking too bad on saturday so ill be taking the tub out on its maiden voyage after decking it out(3.8m stessco) it will be my first time out as the skipper and im just after any info anyone has on the 3 mile ie ground and technique ect. got a few jigs and macarthy SPs id like to test out also, ill be launching from mindarie. would be good to get into a few decent fish befor the demersal ban kicks in, any info would be awsome.

12-18m back off three mile
12-18m back off three mile will be a good place to start , dhufish ,snapper .watch out for the easterly,If it pics up early could get a little narly in a small boat.

gps or maps
do you know the reef area out from mindarie or have a gps/marine map?
just watch out for the shallow reefs on your way out to the back of the 3 mile as it breaks in parts and along most of it if the swell is up.
I fish the area like Paul said but i launch from ocean reef and have found it to be a bit quiet lately but that might just be me. If you anchor and burley you should get some action usually skippy and wrasse are givens but there are quite a few blackarse, kg's and bigger stuff at times

cheers guys, i have the navionics app on iphone. is it easier to get behind the reef launching from ocean reef dosnt seem to have as much shallow reef there? any one had any luck with SPs or jigs around that area ? planing on leaving the bait at home.
