golden ponds
has trout and baramundi in one pool in the warm season. Fee to get in and the best part is you can catch and release if fish not harmed.
they sell frozen fillets cheap too.

Fair play
But im studying there atm, not in aquaculture but marine tourism. Due to their insurance and indemnity I reckon they would be unable to assist. They are very specific about having your fees paid just for this. Also if they are getting 15-20 students per semester, attending classes, paying fees etc, shouldnt the students get first crack at the facilities?
Its like saying go to UWA/Curtin/Murdoch and asking for work experience in their aquaculture/seafood science departments. The difference being tafe courses can be shorter(6months) and cheaper than paying for a uni course and racking up a hecs/help debt.

i studied aquaculture up in
i studied aquaculture up in broome about 8 years ago, as students we weren't in the hatchery all the time, there were 3 full time staff running the hatchery so from my point of view i wouldn't see the problem with a 15 or 16 year old kid still attending school to be given the opportunity to get an insight into the industry.

What sort of Aquaculture are
What sort of Aquaculture are you looking at getting into? You could try a Marron Fram or Trout Farm? There are a few about down South I think? Do a bit of a google. They might be able to put you up for a week or two why you work there? Then you don't have to catch a bus every day. Might be a bit more laid back in terms of insurance, rules etc. Just a thought???
It is worth trying the Freo Tafe too I think. I did some electrical work down there and ran some cable trays and cables through the fish tank sheds a few years back. I think it would be very interesting to work there. The guys that where working there at the time seemed like pretty good people. I think Bruce was the guy in charge of all the fish at the time and he was a extremely helpful while we were working there.
Good Luck.
PS - If you manage to get work experience there, stand back when they feed the YTKs. They make a hell of a splash fighting each other for the pellets.
I fish for the future - Cause I can't bloody catch anything!
