fish and cricket
Alright again
Went out again on sunday for the old mans birthday, and caught a few more fish.....! Trouble was we went to the pub for a quiet half saturday night, this turned into 6 pints and left us pissed and wondering what the morning will bring? We awoke at about 5 and got ourselves ready for the day. It was an hour and a half drive down and all the way we discussed the wind and conditions. Arriving nice and early on the boat we noticed the clouds break and the sun come out, although still blowing force 4 from the south west. We headed out in the lea of the shore and treid for a few mackeral for bait, they were small and hard to come by but eventually we got a few. We were after sea bream and fished a 3 hook dropper rig with worm and squid/mackeral as bait. It was hard going due to the boat going up and down but we were all catching.. Unfortunately only poor cod and pouting-rubbish fish-. After a move me and the old man started to catch bream and ended up with 3 each although one of mine was undersixe so went back. We also started catching dogfish and small bullhuss, all of which went back. We tried drift fishing for plaice and a managed a small but legal fish and took it back for the pot....my first plaice! We finished the day fishing close to the shore after getting beaten up by big waves and swell on the plaice grounds. Not a bad day all in all me and me dad did the best, as we fished light rigs with smaller hooks for better presentation, against the words of others but our method paid off, as noone else caught plaice or bream!! 2 weeks to go, i hope i leave the windy weather here!!!

that flat fish, with dark skin and orange spots, in the UK they are known as Plaice, or as we said in Scotland flukes, good eating as well, where was the plaice caught??

done a fair bit of winter flatty bashin in the harbour myself
they are still easily in my top 5 tasting fish , gut em and straight in the pan
beautiful.
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

fished Geographe Bay on Saturday for a nett result of a Leatherjacket and 2 Wrasse and fished the Blackwood yesterday with Damo and my brother for about 5 x 10cm Bream ( none mine ) - a lesser result than yours but the river was superb - like glass and made the day.

The idea that a draw is like a victory must be an English concept,we Aussies tend to play the best we can with the view of actually having a clear victory,although Australia has ,to some shame,had to win at all costs ( bowled and under arm to the Kiwis)it is Just not bloody cricket to behave like the English did on that game, I think you will enjoy seeing a game of Aussie rules,unlike Soccer,there are very rarely any draws,any ways a nice Plaice we call them flounder,and the bream were certainly on the small side ,hopefully all that will change for you while in the Antipadiese.rgards jersey
