First go at the crays this season
Just a quick report on todays dive, first crack at the crays and road testing some new gear.
Hit the water today around ten, easterlies were still blowing pretty hard. Went to an old faithful spot in 12m, only had the one licence onboard and bagged out first dive pretty easily. Plenty of whites around where we were. They must've only just molted, heaps of shed shells around, strange thing was the whites were still jellys and not skittish at all, got three reds and they are all ready to molt with the new shells developed underneath.
Suprised at how good the vis was, was complete crap up at mindarie on sunday(i was stuck in the boat though) and vis was around 10m at hillarys already two days later. By lunch the wind had died right off so with our limit we had a bit of an exploration dive at a mark from last time out, great dive site but terrible for crays with the reef being like swiss cheese. After that the southerly swung in with no force at all so it was off to temp the toothies and swim with the seals after a late lunch before headin in for 3pm.
Going to try get out again this week will try deeper prob around 25 and shallower around 6 i reckon.

Uh oh! ha yea we saw the shark watch chopper doing its rounds, watching it closely to see it had started a hover:) no word from vj6lq we logged our dives hoping that if they knew anything they'd let us know.
But yea vis was suprisingly really good. scottland just an old canon ixus 80 with a inon 165 fisheye lense and no strobe today, Its the lense that makes it half decent in the case of my camera.

Congrats
Great vis. Not sure if I've ever had it that good in metro waters. Great pics. Tasty crays.
The best reason for doing what's right today is tomorrow.
