Favoured wind directions

I was just fiddling with the Seabreeze graph checking out the winds for the weekend and I was wondering what wind directions do people prefer when fishing ofshore in WA?
Someone told me once that mightn't go out if the wind was blowing from a certain direction, even if it wasn't overly strong, as they reckoned the fishing was always poor when those conditions prevailed.
Any thoughts?

southerlys and westerlys aren't so nice

cos if its blowing against the water its choppy and horrible no water clarity etc but if its blowing with it more clarity and much weaker

i think thats it, correct me if im wrong

My pic is light onshore .

My pic is light onshore . Don't like north wind or north current ,seems to slow thing down . Tide does play a part with the high being the best , i think being on the fish when things come together is the trick.

Dhuies always seem to fire as the breeze swings SW. Often thought it might have something to do with the face of the China Wall or the erosion of the coral ledges.

Always had trouble when the drift goes above 1.7kts.

Northerly sucks, but, at the end of the day, if you drop in front of them they'll generally swallow a bait...

yep SW or westerly.

Look at your fishing almanac and try and match days when the bite time conincides with the wind changing from the east to west or south west. Dhuies alway go on the bite then

Northerly Winds

Tue, 2008-09-23 21:02

Them there northerlies mean bad weather is coming! I head for the bar and I bet the fish do too! Same thing used to happen with the roos and the rabbits on the farm in my very much younger days. As a beachie I have always had good results when the wind changes to S-SW (at a reasonable wind speed of course).

Apart from the northerlies I blame every other bad day on my ability and the f@$*ing moon!

Depends on where I go,

Depends on where I go, generally I like the wind on my back, regardless of which direction I am travelling.

When I fish the FADs, I look for an Easterly, NEE or SEE going out and a West, NWW or SWW coming in.  I had a few runs that way in the last season and there was one magic run out and back that only took an hour each way.

for me!

Wind direction isn't an issue in general. Excluding pinks in the Sound where i prefer onshore. Offshore fishing is good on any light to moderate winds i find. I do find but some lumps/grounds do favour a wind drift direction however. NW winds often mean a drop in the barometric so fishing not the best!

Lets face it lads, the worst weather for shutting down the fish is that foul smelling, seething tirade that comes from the cook.!!! Soon as I even get a puff of that wind....IT'S OVER!!

Does'nt matter what direction either, NW,SW,E .Tends to make me a bit seasick too. Horrible stuffCool

Personally NE winds suit me.

But i must admit, during summer there is nothing better than spending a warm afternoon down the beach fishing for tailor with the freo doctor hitting you in the face!! Doesnt matter how hard it is to cast, still find it very relaxing!!
