Exmouth trip out
Submitted by carnarvonite on Sun, 2021-09-19 14:57
Took a run out yesterday with son Jeff and grandson Alex, had a bit of fun with the ruby snapper, finished up with 2 rubies and a couple of other fish plus a small thickskin we decided to keep before moving in closer to try for some gold bands, 2 drifts later and we were on our way home.
Gave it a try again today [Sunday] for nothing, fish showing on sounder but refusing to bite plus Missus came out with us for her first ever trip out deep, got a wee bit sea sick so it was decided to give it away early. Spoke to 3-4 other crews at the ramp and all had same thing, seeing fish but they were not biting

shorts and bare feet
Not kidding about the bare feet and shorts, first winter down south for over 20 years, been freezing my nurries off, was great to come up and get some sun and thaw out a bit.
Biggest ruby went just short of 18kg

Jeff and Alex
Jeff and Alex live here in Exmouth and get amongst the rubies and goldies pretty regularly. Jeff [deepwater on fishwrecked] is either diving or hooking somewhere most weekends. He's been trying to hit the 20kg ruby but along comes Dad and goes about 1kg better than his best one so far
