Exmouth in August

Gday all, was just hoping to get an idea off anyone, what sort of weather to expect up at Ningaloo during August?

I have fished it before in the July school holidays and found it to be mostly nice weather with only a few times it blowing up from the S/SW. Planning to miss the school holidays this year and head up for a couple of weeks in Aug. Usually only fished the Tantabiddi side but would also like to fish the gulf side if weather permits.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as i have a choice of Aug or going in Nov. Would prefer Aug though.

Thanks, Buz.

Definitely go August over November for more days to get out.  The south easters generally start in August, but you still do get a few really good days.

Cheers for the heads up

Cheers for the heads up Adam. Think August is going to be the go then. We will be up there for around 2 weeks, so even if it blows up for a few days we should get some days either side of it. I'm guessing most weather patterns last about 3-4 days up there too?(e.g like a cold front going through Perth).

Hi Buz, I too will be up there in August for a couple of weeks after spending 5 weeks in the kimberly. I am not towing the boat up but at this stage have a friend and his family who may meet us up there and tow the boat up which will be a bonus. I will be up there from about the 1st to 14th of August.

I have been reading alot on this forum about the fishing in exmouth especialy from a boat as I have only every done land based there.

May see you up there or else catch up for another fish (or just wetting a line in my case) down here in the big smoke.

Brad

Could you say the same about the winds in Gnaraloo at the same time?

Touch and go

It can be touch and go in August at Gnaraloo as well. The southerlies were up and blowing by mid August this year a couple of weeks earlier than normal.

Have been the only ones there in September on year and got out every day yet two years before that at the start of August never took the boat off the trailer for the whole fortnight.

I've done both August and November and Nov blew it's butt off. I also caught billfish in August so if that's your thing they're still there.

Cheers for the advice guys. Think i will look at August being the month to go now. Now to find some crew, prefereably one who has a big 4x4 to tow my big boat, or else it'll be the tinnie going up!
