Call went out around 8.30pm according to the news. 3 people overboard, 1 found so far. 2 still missing.
Gusting to 31knots... crazy weather! Would not like to be out there! Hope those searching and risking there own lives stay safe and have a happy outcome!
agree 100% The more serious stuff you can read on the ATSB website but not alot pertaining to recreational unless its an interaction with a commercial vessel
Looking at conditions and direction, I am guessing a broach that left the boat drifting and people unable to keep up. Would have been a bit keen to do Rotto to Hillary's in a seabreeze gusting to 35.
WA today indicated the skipper was still on board when the others went over. I'd think like mentioned above that the rough conditions caused the boat to move in an unexpected way sending them over. Be interesting to know if the boat was small for the conditions or if a large boat caught out in some way. Thumbs up to treading water for 2 hours without life jackets in that slop!!
crazy lucky, my only thoughts are they waited for the predicted wind drop at 8-9pm, the wind didnt drop till after 10pm if anything it gusted stronger before it dropped
Sure it happens, but you would imagine that at least one of them would have let out a scream/shout or something to get the skipper to stop straight away.
My boys usually ride at the back of the boat when we are in transit because of the smoother ride back there. I'm constantly checking as you cant hear a thing with the wind, wave and engine noise combined when it's sloppy. I reckon they been smacked by the sea and all gone over at the same time.

Me too, old chesnut of mine.
I have always though the sea resue , govt , water police etc , should all have a downloadable web page , covering the breakdown
of these incidents once the investagations are done.
No names etc of course , but just like the safety incident de briefs that have been happening in mining and industry for years .
How many marine based incidents and loss of life has there been in WA alone in the last few years , yet most of the people involved
in these activivtys have no idea of the sequences and mistakes made during these things to learn by them.
Repeated in the future if not acknowledging the past.

Yeah, I noticed the rescue choppers working the area on my Flightradar24 app. Thought it was a training drill,

3 lucky guys for sure, treading water for that long in any conditions would be hard enough.
certainly makes you wonder how 3 could go over tho .

Just seen a video of the boat on the news. It was a 6m RIB with a freeboard of about 300mm. Big seas for such a boat... very lucky!
