does anyone have advice on some barra tackle?
hows it going guys im new to the forum and this is my first post here!
i live in darwin and love my barra fishing, i have recently brought a shimano core 50 and i am looking for a rod specifically designed for plastics fishing in mind (super sensitive, lightweight to balance with the core and decent backbone with a extra fast action to set the hooks) so the gloomis jig & worm BCR glx series and the samurai reaction 351 or the 451 came to mind.
does anyone have any experience with these rods? i am looking at either getting a BCR802 or a BCR803 or one of the samurais. what do you guys think will be better? the samurais are much much better looking rods and also have a decent warranty.
also i am looking at getting a barra spin outfit for those long casts. ive been looking at the new certates (2500R) how are they holding up being a new model and all.
the spin rod ive been looking at has been from the samurai reaction series (the 302 or the 402 snapper rods) how would these rods handle barra fishing with soft plastics?
cheers i look forward to your replys

Hey mate - probably best bet
Hey mate - probably best bet would be to get on some of the queensland forums and ask the impoundment boys. I know a few of the guys love their samurais, and having done a fair bit of that style I reckon you could not go to far wrong if you are using them in runoff type conditions. For me I prefer slightly shorter rods as i mainly fish snags and find anything over 6' a bit hard to cast accurately.

my advice would be to
go and see a bloke called Matt at Fishing and Outdoor World on Cavenaegh st in the city. They know there stuff in there and carry a big range of Loomis so you can actually try the reel on the rod for balance and so on!!

yes im always in fishing and
yes im always in fishing and outdoor world! im the local tackle rat you could say :L
they carry the bcr series and alot of other gear (jdm reels etc) that the other tackle shops in darwin cant even compete with.
but no one in darwin stocks the samurai rods
i have seen that a guy going by the username of NAGG on ausfish uses his samurai 451 with a steez and he loves it, but i cant contact him as you have to pay to use ausfish to post topics?
so if anyone could help me out id appreciate it

i havent fished with the reaction rods
however I used to built alot of rods on the samurai blanks and found them reliable and reasonably priced. For that they peformed well probably not quite up there with a GXL however definately a quality performance blank!!!

Alot of people think that
Alot of people think that the samurais are a step up in quality regarding the components compared to loomis but glx is regarded by most as the most sensitive blank available.
I currently have a mate who is running a tackle shop and has offered me the samurai at reduced price, so I will most likely choose the samurai.
I just need someone who has used the samurai reaction 451 to give me their opinion to push me just that bit further and confirm the purchase of a weapon of barra destruction :)
