Days like this

Had a great day out on Sunday off of Bunbury. Picked up two solid dhuies on the first drift, 17kg and 16kg. Packed up and heading home after 15 minutes of fishing, if only it was this easy every time. Massive school on the sounder so hanging to get out and get into a few more. Both caught on fresh mullet in 40m well north of town.

Man
Thats not fishing. Thats catching. I would be happy but almost pissed off that the trip would be so short.

Top work
I never really thought of mullet for a deeper water bait either but it obviously works well.
do you use a whole mullet or use fillets?

when I used to pro fish out
when I used to pro fish out of mandurah back in the day, we always had a big mullet fillet on the bottom hook.
it would always come up with a big fat dhuie.

crasny1 - it was a bit like
crasny1 - it was a bit like that mate but being home in time for a lunch time counter meal wasnt so bad, I can live with it
scano - if there's wrasse and pickers around i cut the mullet in half and use that, no pickers and I use a big fillet. Majority of bigger fish I've caught have def been on the heads though. The mullet i catch are all around 300mm long so when you chop one in half its still a fair lump of bait. Deep drop I leave them whole.

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.
