2500r Custom
Ive got the 2500r custom. Very nice reel to own. Got mine for light jigging PE 1 and will be flicking lures from the shore in Exmouth.
Havent used the Hyper so not sure how much better it is especially when you are only talking chasing bream and the like.
Dont think you could make a mistake choosing either of them.
Did change the knob on mine to an EVA one like the Hyper so that adds another $40 or so to the price but its much more comfortable.

What line are you running on
What line are you running on the reel? The 2500 will hold 200m of PE2, so if you're running light line and dont need a massive amount of capacity, you could even downsize. Unless you're using it for heavier line or need more capacity, the smaller reels will handle it (plus lighter for nicer breaming all day). Though, only the standard certates are available <2500

hello hlokk,
I was actully planning to pop in between 15-20lb of braid. should be between PE1.5 to 2... due to that i will be chasing 5-7kg snakeheads with it... would need a reel that can give me heavy drag for that...

Ok, you said bream and
Ok, you said bream and salmon trout and 20lb is completely overkill for that, but snakeheads are a different story ;)
Even 20lb you would only run 3-4kg max of drag, and there is practically no daiwa reels that cant do that, so you probably more want smoothness/durability (drag and gearing). For some gears you trade smoothness for strength, so make sure you play around with them all and not just assume because something is more expensive that its suited better to you.

Honsu or others are probably
Honsu or others are probably able to better advise a suitable reel. I would have thought a strong baitcaster would have been more appropriate for accurate casts between weed?
I doubt you are really going to get a reel thats suitable for both bream and snakehead though. A snakehead reel will be pretty heavy for bream. I dont really see the point of 20lb breaming (and will be hard to cast bream lures). Snakeheads and full sized salmon are probably a better match.

most likly drop from 20lb to
most likly drop from 20lb to about 8lb when i get back to perth... or maybe get a spear spool to have both lines. would that be a gd idea? or would it still be a over kill for breams?

If I were to spend the
If I were to spend the extras I would go the "Hyper" as the only thing better than the "blue" one is the gearing. Uses stainless steel pinion and "Saltiga gearing" = marine bronze alloy main gear. So in theory it will last longer than the regular Certate.
Im planning to upgrade my Certate 4000 to the Hyper 4000 so I can push the reel even harder, atm I dont run any more than 20lb.

Hey Otoshi I have a 3500HD
Hey Otoshi
I have a 3500HD - it is magnificent. I run PE2 on it and use it for everything from jigging in 100m (on good days where i can drop a light jig) to spinning.
I haven't had any problems with it and have caught quite a few good fish on it including sambo's, amberjack and big skippy on the jig and pinkies with sp's..
Couldn't speak highly enough of it

Thanks Bones76, i have seen
Thanks Bones76, i have seen the 3500HD in action landing 8-10kg long tail... they r beautiful reels but not too sure if i am strong enough to be casting them the whold day by the river for breams. might even be a over kill for them.
again thanks for the suggestion.

ive got the 4000 hyper
i looooove it the only down fall is i dont use my other certates as much as i should so i sold my 4000 and dropped the line strength on my 3000 so i will use it for salmon and tailor ect from shore and leave the hyper for the boat.
So tell me have you got your info from years on the water or hours on the internet?

I have both and i can't
I have both and i can't fault either the only reason i would lean towards the Hyper more is the Saltiga Gearing as i feel more comfortable to load it up with heavier line and fish it harder (Read as abuse the heck out of)
However having said that you can buy "The Blue One" with Saltiga Gearing from A certain online website. I am considering selling my R-Custom for one of the upgraded ones as i just love the blue colour but i would love to be able to load it up more.

Will do and the luvias are
Will do and the luvias are brilliant I have used one next to my Exist and was suprised to find that the feel is amazingly similar (obviously the exist is the better of the 2)
and the only thing i could point to and say that's why i pay twice as much for the exist instead of buying the luvias was the fact the Exist is metal.
And in the beginning i was worried that the luvias would be all plasticcy and bend and stuff but i found that it is as daiwa claims almost as strong as an aluminium reel, the other difference is that the exist is a bit more refined, all the features are there in the luvias same as the exist.
another point to consider is as you say they are a lot cheaper than the "blue one".
You also mentioned weight mentioned and wanting to be able to cast it all day well the luvias is a lot lighter than the certate due to it's zaion body.
the only thing you will find is that a lot of people are still skeptical about the zaion frames and i was at one time but after 6 months with the luvias i can say i am happy to really load it up the only thing i wouldn't trust it with is in the bigger sizes chasing large pelagics.
