Come on guys, what IYO is the best Mack lure

I have had so much advise I have about 50, and the spread is 4. Surface runner 1-3m R2S Triho, Deeper F18, Halco Crazy deep  and a shot gum popper (havent decided the best one yet).

Lets build a favourite bible of these lures.

Rapala x-rap

Wed, 2009-09-09 20:44

few months back we were trolling out of kalbarri and most hits from macks came on the x-rap 20/30 in the green/blueish (dorado?...i think) colour.

MJ is on the money with lures and skirted gar.

X-rap 30 - blue sardine

Wed, 2009-09-09 21:20

X-rap 30 - blue sardine pattern and the red and white ones.  Funny enough the orange coloured Xraps always picked up the trouts n cods whilst trolling for macks....

Neels, IMO i have caught

Thu, 2009-09-10 18:56

Neels, IMO i have caught them on the most cheapest shittiest and the most costly lure,, even just ballooning mullies out the back. Be in the right place @ the right time and you will catch them on anything, IMO there is no real right lure they will just about take anyone but its about being in the right place @ the right time IMO

I have had the result running YO - zurie

Haven't done a great deal of mackie trolling

Thu, 2009-09-10 19:13

but we pretty much used x-raps and Bluewater F18's and did OK.

I think pretty much any reasonable swimming lure around 7" - 9" long will do the job.

Drifted behind the boat in a strong current - more enviromentally friendly with the absence of fuel use and truly deadly around Dampier islands

I go through the Rapala

Tue, 2009-09-15 23:07

I go through the Rapala X-Rap, CD 18/14 and Laser Pro in the Red and White colours before going onto anything else. Normally get a strike on one or the other. Gota love those red heads!
