cleaning graphite rods

hi guys

having just got my first graphite rod, what are some ways i can clean it without damaging it?

do i just hose it down or do i wash it with detergent and a sponge?

any help greatfully accepted

Yep agree there a wash cloth or hose down and if your fussy like me and dont want water marks wipe off with a rag and put in the shade till everything is dry

Fresh water wash Davy, let it dry completely then spray Mr Sheen on it (lightly), wipe of and store like that!

it aint a spaceship so just wash down with fresh water at a low pressure and a wipe guides and reel seat to get saltwater/ scales out

Washing a rod down with fresh water is fine but you need to also do longtern stuff like take your reel off & clean the reel seat & reel foot with a synthetic lubricant. Also, spray down the guides periodically with the same lubricant and doesnt hurt for clean up/shine up the blank with Mr Sheen!

A bit more needs to be done to a rod than just a wash down if you plan for the rod to stay in shmick condition for many years!
