Fresh water wash Davy, let it dry completely then spray Mr Sheen on it (lightly), wipe of and store like that!

Take it in the shower with you when you get home from
fishing.

shmick!
Washing a rod down with fresh water is fine but you need to also do longtern stuff like take your reel off & clean the reel seat & reel foot with a synthetic lubricant. Also, spray down the guides periodically with the same lubricant and doesnt hurt for clean up/shine up the blank with Mr Sheen!
A bit more needs to be done to a rod than just a wash down if you plan for the rod to stay in shmick condition for many years!

getting the bottom line final answer from a bunch of blokes that use false names and put smiley faces at the end of paragraphs is not the best place in the world to get the information you seek.
