Just went on a large charter boat today This is the third time I have spent good money on a charter and caught bugger all
same as everybody else on board too I get told we will be going to unhammerd grounds past Rotto every time and always seem to end up close to around Rotto
Anybody else with similar experiences

Charter boats are hit and
Charter boats are hit and miss i admitt, but if this is your 3rd time with the same company you are well within your rights to feel aggrieved.
Also if no-one else is catching then more so.
Name of the company ?

Where is motty these days?
Ahh three times, you must be a serious sucker for punishment! Next time try the site sponsor Saltwater Charters if you're NOR, SOR I'd go Al Bevan's Shikari, or if you don't mind a drive, try Jurien Seasports.

response
I wonder what there responce to this post will be this time. My guess is something along the lines of "Every charter has there bad days, We guarentee that we will put u on the fish, but we can't guarantee that they are hungry".
Hopefully steep point turns up some action for u mate!

When fishing in Coral Bay
When fishing in Coral Bay with Mahi Mahi, on the remote chance even if you didn't catch anything ( probs seasick all day )
Bernie would send you home with a bag of fish,
You see, that is how a good operator works, all the punters are happy and good reputation is achieved.

Had the same kind of
Had the same kind of experience in Exmouth a few years back. Guys I was speaking to reccomended me a guy by the name of 'Cookie' Alan Cooke i think was his name. After booking and paying for a half day charter we ended up coming back in at around 7pm because he flat out refused to go home without some decent fish !!

No Disrespect
Cackle,
The first time I stuck my hand in the fire it hurt like buggery.
The second time was a few years later when the memories of the pain were forgotten.
The third time I realised I was just plain stupid.
Since then I have done all my research and have learnt never to stick my hand in the fire again.
Do the research off this web site and I can almost guarantee that you will catch fish with our sponsor charter operators.

It surprises me after reading
It surprises me after reading so many posts on this forum about the same charter company and same types of issues that keep occurring that they still seem to fill a boat and are still able to operate?
Surely they must be doing SOMETHING right???......or not....?
If this is the case, how are they able to continue to run a business when alot of people arnt happy with the service and value for money that they provide?
Im not sticking up for them in any way, im just curious, as they have such a big name in Perths fishing charter industry.
However, this type of discussion is very valuable to know the pros and cons of each Perth based charter, so the punter can make up his or her own mind.

They have the best
They have the best advertising which is why they get so many punters. Its not because they are the best, just because most people dont know better (kinda like telstra with internet plans). I doubt they have anywhere near the repeat rate of some other charters.
That being said, I'm surprised you didn't get many fish, they usually bag out on skippy and sambos in the esky at the barges, lol. Have heard of a fair few times when they have heaps of fish left over after the punters leave. You'd think they'd ask if people actually wanted the fish instead of cutting the throat of every size fish that comes aboard. Maybe they don't do that anymore though?
Will hold my tongue when it comes to sambos though...

Marketing
I think they may not be the best at actually getting fish but they are extremely good at marketing to the public and target a lot of overseas and domestic tourists. I believe it is only really us experienced fishermen who know what they are truly like, your average punter from overseas doesnt have a clue!

I think one other thing that
I think one other thing that attracts people to their boat is the fact that you could book on your own or with a small group and dont need to book the whole boat. Not that i am defending them either as my experiance with their company years ago wasnt that great. But some times they do come back with some good table fish and lots of shit ones.

Trouble with Mills is they
Trouble with Mills is they have several boats that flog the same ground day after day. The skippers come and go and just use the spots on the boats GPS.
Better off with an owner operator that looks after the ground he fishes and has some pride in his job.

Best one I ever went on was Aqualib out of mandurah. Two hour trip but well worth it. First drop saw five Dhuies and an assortment through the day. Owner operator says it all.

Went out on sunday with Craig
Went out on sunday with Craig and Ryan at Saltwater:
the boat caught:
2 pinkies (1 being 77cm)
2 damn good baldies
3 50cm + kg
1 hammer head
5 black ars
5 sweep
numberous other fishes which were release properly (and probably some other fish were kept and caught that i cant remember)
Craig alo pulled his pots and divided the catch up between all on board - everyone left with something
we fished north and wide of rotto and did get to past rotto for a fish in 80m
breakfast (bacon and eggs muffins on the bbq) greeted us followed by a bbq lunch (hamburgers sausages and chicken) then and desert - basically all you can eat buffet
Craig and Ryan were nice guys, very helpful, never made you feel like you were asking too much
the one probelm was tha craig sang a bit and he isnt a great singer :)
Summary - I wanted a 20kg dhuie but was happy with what i caught and thought that it refletfed value for money at $200 for the day

Ahahaha. The singing. Its Gold! If you think the boys are good cooks, then you need to try his wife Olivias cooking. 5 days fishing around the abrolhos islands eating amazing food. Was worth it for the food alone. Lol. We caught some amazing fish too. Craig is good at what he does, so I highly recommend Saltwater. Don't think I could bring myself to try any others after the great time I had on both trips as well as the 2 day trips i have had in perth.
