is this a catfish? its got a few thick whiskers and a bit of an eel like tail. caught it at mindarie marina. whatever it is im gonna eat the bastard now. iv been fishing there 3 days in a row and its the first thing ive caught

yea i saw those spines,
yea i saw those spines, looked pretty nasty, like the catties we get up in broome. we just ate it and it wasnt bad at all. your right about it being really soft

yes its a cobbler and it is a member of the catfish family,i dont mind eating them,they are quite tasty

you were lucky to get that one on squid as i always got them on fresh prawns or their prefered food , blood worms. nice size cobler too. well done

Thanks. he didnt really bite at all, he was just on there when i pulled my line in a bit. he pulled a bit though when i started dragging him in,I knew it wasnt another blowie

they tend to suck the bait
they tend to suck the bait in instead of biting at it, they are bottom feeders sifting through the mud and sand. hense the feelers and downward pointing mouth

Yea,it will hurt ,but as an emergency step,piss on it,also hot water,Not scolding but Hot and immerse the wounded foot/hand. As for skinning them,real hot water in a bucket or sink,and put them in for a couple of minutes the skin peels off. good luck and have a Safe Christmas and a Great New Year.jersey
