Broome landbased

Does anyone know what the landbased fishing at Broome is like. My stepson has just landed a job up there for 12 months, so I am already planning a winter visit. I know the jetty is pretty famous. Are there any other spots around that area for a chap without a boat.
Thanks  Colin Hay

Hi colin

There are a few places you can catch fish land based in Broome.

Right in front of Cable beach you can chuck poppers few Trevally and Queenies.
If you walk up to the right up the nude beach you can chase threadfin salmon (incomming tide).

Guanthiume point  walk up to the point with incoming and chase anything from sharks, snapper, bluebone.

Hire out a surfcat and use their handline and barra lure ( ask the person hiring the cats, I used to always have one I would give to punters. I did this job for 6 months. What a life :P ) and catch mackies.

If you hire a 4x4 you can go up the beach and chase Threadfin for 5-6 K's up the beach.

Be very warey of the tides, all ways drive above the days high tide as during touro season 1-2 cas a week are lost to getting bogged and the tides taking the car away.

You can head to Willies Creek, or up around the back of crab creek chasing Barra and mullaway.

Endless amounts of Landbased in Broome.
To increase your odds by 500%  get yourself a throw net as their are tonnes of pop eye mullet.

I am not sure if it is true as I heard they have closed the jetty of to fishermen now, otherwise. GT's macks, tuna, bluebone, snapper, chinamen cod, slimmy cod.... endless types fish of the jetty.
