BREXIT, maybe a lesson for voters here!
With the recent surprise outcome of the UK's BREXIT referendum many poms it appears are suddenly realising the enormity of what is going to happen, maybe Boris Johnson more than anyone else as he will likely inherit the poison chalice and if he doesn't take it he is finished.
He looked pretty stunned to say the least...
A petition to redo the referendum gains more than a million signatures within hours with countless "leave" voters now saying they didn't really understand what would happen and didn't expect or actually want to win.
Personally I don't have a lot of interest in BREXIT even though the missus is a Pom.
Similarly here, I'm not even certain what would be a good outcome for our election, but there's little that annoys me more than hearing "I don't bother to vote" or "I don't care who " or "they're all the same so I dont..." and complaining about politics at the same time.
Its called a "donkey vote" for a reason, so at least take an hour to look into who you are voting for, or else you (and the rest of us) will get what we deserve, and it could hurt.
EDIT-My point above is just make sure you know what and who you are voting for, and not at all about who to vote for.
I had never really thought about it before but there is a compelling reason to make voting non-compulsory, to ensure that only those who give a shit have a say.

Spot on
Absolutely spot on mate.
Must admit i didnt think it would happen, mainly due to the fact that i thought people who were unsure would vote to stay because thats what they already know.
This has the potential to turn into a major shit storm (if it already hasnt) for Brit and old mate Borris... Read a report yesterday that apparently Commbank stopped exchanging between aud and pounds due to the sudden drop in currency and stocks but havent heard anymore about it.

Sad part is that it's only
Sad part is that it's only the start of the hurt for the UK. People should think carefully when voting and understand what winning will bring. Now to the Scotland and northern Ireland. Feeling for the poms. But got what they wanted....

The whole Brexit poll was
The whole Brexit poll was run on self interest rather than facts and true social and economic ramifications. The emotive card was played re immigration to the UK and from what I hear not much will change in that respect.

This is a very interesting
This is a very interesting narrative cut and pasted from FB, obviously by a "remain" voter but very compelling none the less
If you voted out because of "unelected politicians" then well done because we're about to get an unelected prime minister.
If you voted out because of immigration then well done, because you just lost the right of free movement too. Just wait 'til you have to get a visa to go to Glasgow or Belfast.
If you voted out because people were "stealing your jobs" then well done, because you're about to see Germany and France "steal" Nissan and a bunch of other companies who only manufacture here as a gateway to the eu market.
If you voted out because you think we'll get a great trade deal with the EEA "like Norway did", think again. Take a look around your Sainsbury's Local and try and find any fruit and veg that's grown in the UK. We need them more than they need us, and like the EEA, we'll have to accept EU policies like free movement as part of a trade deal anyway - except now we won't be able to have any say in them.
If you voted out because of vague scaremongering headlines like "Migrant Crisis" then please, feel free to remind me when it was that Syria joined the EU. If you voted out because Farage promised £350m for the NHS, then I'm sure you'll be happy to watch him on This Morning revealing that that was a lie.
If you voted out and you're heading into retirement, then great job! Because now the working people of this nation will break their backs to afford your pension without the influx of young, economically active and skilled EU migrants.
If you voted out because you think we'll be better off, the £ has just fallen by 8% against the dollar. And if you voted out because you love this country, prepare to see it crumble, with threats of a unified Ireland and an independent Scotland just hours after the result was confirmed. Well done, Britain.

Too right Dale. Europe is Chinas biggest customer
Im for wait and see. The media have been scaremongering for a week.
The media said 100000 leaving UK. Uk has population of 60 million people.
In comparison, WA has had 50000 people leave, in a town with only 2 million people

A falling pound good for the Brits
the political class and wealthy have cut middle class from the population. Now they can reap the results.
keep in mind our collective futures are linked the the success of our young. Lack of training, apprentichips, terrible underemployment and the scourge of 457 visa worker will all play out. I'm certain we will have plenty to whinge about as we try to retire in 15-20years.

From what I can gather, the
From what I can gather, the big bonus behind it is the deregulation of thousands upon thousands of products and services, so that the only regulations that businesses have to abide by directly relate to the British market and not the Spanish market, or the Dutch market, or the German market. When you have that many boundaries in side of what is meant to be a level playing field the bureaucracy and the resulting layer upon layer of cost become too much.

True but with the almost
True but with the almost inevitable long term £weakness they will be needing to export.
And Europe will still require those standards.
Doubt EU will cut them a break...

The poms got out just in time
The poms got out just in time imo and it will be hard going for a time but the EU is f*cked anyhow so who cares. How is Greece Spain Italy France and a shit loads more of them going atm..Hundreds of thousands maybe millions of free loading non working invaders [ including many islamic terrorists ] coming from f*ck knows where so the poms are putting up the barricade's. Whats wrong with looking after your own first instead of running up the white flag to appease the greenie types. Nah get out while the going is ok. The EU will be in deep shit without their milking cow to milk from.

maybe so
Hear what your saying, but as has been said, since when was Syria part of the EU?
And you should note that they havent "got out" at all.
Havent even started the process which is going to be the really interesting part of this.
David Cameron wont submit the notice, he will hand it over to Boris unless Boris doesnt want it in which case Boris will be finished politically.

Fair dinkum mess..hope it
Fair dinkum mess..hope it never happens here but we all know it can and imo will in the future if the likes of Sarah Hanson Young and her ever increasing popular party along with a heap of other dills whom form the minority in the Senate ccould be running this country in hand with any left leaning ALP party whom will do anything to get their bills through.

Please can some one tell me what is going to happen
What's going to happen if a few other countries, like France, Holland to name just a couple follow suit and leave the EU, are the stayers going to want those countries to hold another vote because the vote of the majority doesn't suit them.
Suck it up people it's democracy at work, if you can't live with it leave.
But I don't think there will be a mass exodus from the UK.
Oh and I'm not a pom, oops sorry English.
What's going to happen after our own election on Saturday, if a million or so people don't like the result and get a partition signed saying they want another vote because they are not happy with the result are we going to the polls again until there is less than a million people happy, I don't think so. sheeesh.

The petition to have another
The petition to have another vote seems to be coming from both sides.
There was a media grab on the news this morning of people on the streets being interviewed and the story they were highlighting was a woman who said "Me and my family are really disapointed about this result... even though we all voted to leave we didnt really think it would happen so now we would like to change our vote".
I agree with you though, democracy at work... have to live with it now.
