bottom rigs

heading out on a mates boat tomorrow to do some bottom bashing.
i want to be prepared so what types of rigs should i be looking at making?
we will be targeting dhu's and snapper plus others.
i will use 30lb main line and 50-60lb leader.

id go a bit heavier on the leader some abrasive shit and teeth down there, patternoster rigs will be fine for that

would you say 80lb then? i got some jinkai lying around.
what about a single hook or snell rigg? with a light bean sinker running to it.
and what size hooks

what depth are u fishing?
snell's are good for shelow water but if ure in deeper water a bead sinker won't hold bottom. patternoster rigs i think would be the go but always good to be prepaired

Patternoster rig with size 6
Patternoster rig with size 6 long shank vmc hooks lumo bead above each hook and a 6 - 12 ounch snapper sinker should do you fine make up a few rigs due to bustoffs or getting snagged. good luck

Anyone have an image of a Patternoster rig? Is it tied with a three way swivel? THanks HJG Shovel snow or fish?Whats a man to do?

In that Depth Callum
If you are at anchor and the stoopid mutton birds aren't a problem, I'd be floating a bait down. It has two advantages:
1) You might latch on to a good fish that otherwise might be shy in that depth (or any other depth for that matter - though the deeper it is, the less practical it is (more time it takes to go down)).
2) You are fishing the whole water column - not just the bottom - you never know what might swim past - especially if you are burley down the water column rather than just along the bottom.
Just another option.

10-20m mate try as Colin No.2 suggested mate. Drift baiting is the go for that water depth. Basic rig of 750mm 60lB leader to two snelled 4/0 -6/0's and a bean sinker righ above the hooks. Bait up with whole fish like mulie or fish fillet and drift it down..

Looking at forecats I would
Looking at forecats I would (and will) b starting off light and drift baitin. Try that first in that depth mate
