Hi Guy's
Just a quick one cos i'm at work but i see the wind looks OK tomorrow but the swell is big. Not having much experience in perth waters, is it worth fishing the bottom in these conditions?
Cheers

Thanks for the replies
Thanks for the replies guy's, appreciate it. My boat is just under 7 metres long but as you say safety first always!
Keen to see if anyone is going wide.
I might just take the kids for a cruise up the river.
Cheers

Swell
I was out yesterday and today. The swell was lesser today; however, still took a couple of greenies over the front. By the way, I was out for work, not play!
The North Mole was CRAZY!!!!!!! Once inside the reef and a bit of shelter from Rotto around the Hillarys area, the swell dropped; though the surface chop from the NWester yesterday and W today was uncomfortable. The boat is 12.5m so I think inner waters might be the safe option depending on the forecast mate.

i'm heading out if winds
i'm heading out if winds stay light
the swell doesn't bother me if you're not over the shallows , it's the sea that makes me uncomfortable, but must be careful heading out over the inneer reefs
wind looks to be dropping through the day at present.
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

Yeah watch that swell that
Yeah watch that swell that guys lucky to be alive last week at Pt Peron, Albee Mangles put a picture up of his boat getting towed in,he went out 800 meters to do a bit of surfing, wave hit and stopped the motor,,while he was sorting that out another wave hit and he ended up dazed and covered in blood,,then the boat starting sinking,,he grabbed the surfboard and somehow made it to shore,,
He credits beach walkers that found him huddled up on the beach for saving his life.
He says the swell was large but managable .

If your not a seasoned
If your not a seasoned boater then i would stay home ,there are still plenty off sheltered areas you can fish, open ocean can be very dangerous with a swell of three metres+,to any one heading out tomorrow stay safe and good luck .Im still a no go as its my daughters birthday and iv'e been told .

to much
I think 3m and a long 12sec period iis OK but yeah definatly uncomfortable I think today its closer to 4m ? I think any swell lareger then 50% of your boat length is a worry :) insore it should be fantastic was thinking of that myself but have to visit some ppl and fix computers at 930 :( Sighh mm just looked 3.5m in morning dropping to 3.2 doable in a 7m rig i recon watch the steep ones scared the crap out of me once :)
