Give the new one

by Chivers a ride as well mate.  Made right here in WA.  I've got the new model with the ballast control system like barcrusher & it rides & handles exceptionally well.  My cousin who owns a Trophy went out with me & loved it after trying to convince me not to go ally.  We drifted at the same speed without me needing a sea anchor.  I had looked at the Barcrusher but liked the added width of the Chivers.  Good luck...cheers Ben

you got deep pockets?

If you can find one 2nd hand, you'll find they hold their value pretty well (and I know, I've been looking). Expect to pay $40k plus for a fairly newish used 5.6m version. If you are thinking new, work around $50k plus for the 5.6m version depending on options. The 6.4m will run you $60-70k plus depending on options etc.

Its a lot of coin for an ally boat, and given some of the deals around for the f/g boats I gave seen, that looks more like the route I'll take.

Bar Crusher is a major sponsor so they use their boats on their fishing trips up and down the east coast. They look pretty good.

I also have a 6.4 with the 150 yamaha 4 stoke. Very happy with the boat, great fishing rig. Took it over to abrolhos last year in some pretty ordinary weather and it handled really well.

Andrew,  Mainly drift fish

Tue, 2009-06-09 07:05

Andrew,

Mainly drift fish with 3 guys on one side and the boat is fine, don't get knocked around anymore than my previous 6m ally. Remember the barcrusher sits down in the water a bit when the chamber fills.

Wanted to put the 200 on when I purchased but could not justify the extra at the time. I am happy enough with the 150 but if money was no concern then I would go the 200.
