Just been to Bali and went to visit some Bali friends in Amed, which is on the north east coast. Went chasing a few Mahi Mahi in a traditional Jukung. There had some caught over the previous days all around 5kg. Headed out about 10am to fish around some FADs which are just floating bamboo rafts. Trolling a whole mackerel on a 2 hook snelled rig at about 2knts. Great fun, bagged a few including a 12kg and 20kg, my PB, which were sold to the local market. The fisherman gets about $1 a kilo.

Awesome work mate! would of been a bit of fun out there in the traditional old fishing boat. Did you take your own gear or did they have it there?
Been going to Bali every year since I was about 10 and never thought of fishing over there

gear
I bought him a reel a couple years ago and he had a little jig rod. He's a traditional fisherman and not a charter. Sometimes we fish for small tuna or mackerel with handlines.
Getting a 20kg Mahi Mahi over the outriggers and into the boat using 2 feet gaff was interesting to say the least
