Yep over $30 in Dawesville
Yep over $30 in Dawesville too, can't remember exact price I paid last time but thought Dam getting steep. I generally prefer catching my own bait as much as possible. My biggest gripe is still with the Herring limits we have because I like to catch my own for bait. Our limits are low but it's okay still,to buy,pay for as many as we like from a shop. Hypocritical much.

Always 2 sides...
Gotta point out that its a regular feature on pro fishing forums about the rec pressure to stop any commercial fishing used for bait ("wasteful") and at the same time about shortages and cost rises.
The big discussion at the moment is about Port Philip Bay on that very subject, and the danger of mulie bait brought from outside introducing virus, exactly as happened with the tuna farms in Lincoln and spread all along the south coast.
Also white spot on prawns in Queensland

The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
Everyone's just winging it.

On the way home from work I occasionally buy fresh squid from Kailis as a back up, cheaper than that bloody servo mush, damn I can't bring myself to use that shit ! Buy a few pillies as well and salt them down when they are a cheaper price.

Buy some scented plastics and a few jigs as a back up, I will buy a small packet of bait as a starting point then use fresh fillets after that.
