appreciation for the word 'Pingers'

was out on Saturday, pretty early arriving to a nice spot around 7am.

No boats in site nothing the water was dead quiet!!

next minute a boat comes boaring over our way and i said to my mate 'watch thie bloke will come right up and ping us, he was about 2kms away at the time'.

And he came right up and circled us!!! looking at the sounder, looking at us...

At the time all 3 of us were loaded up on fish so was dam hard to hide it.

So they moved aboput 40m up drift of us and drifted right over our run!!!

We were maybe 10 minutes on our location before this happened!!!
First time Ive seen this happen

Dirty!!!

Had the same on sat as well mate! Off scarbs..3 guys in a tinny were cruzing along the coast...then turned and headed straight for us..come within 50m and stopped, i turned and looked at them...they waved..i didnt wave and said a few words...they then pulled out there sight glass and put it in the water to have a look at the bottom...then took off.   Dosnt really worry me that much, but still cant understand with all that ocean out there..why come and wreck a quiet day on the water for someone!

At some stage

Sun, 2009-05-17 20:06

ya gonna get pinged - its inevitable and even a rubbish fisherman like myself has been pinged on more than one occassion.

But to circle you and then set up a drift ahead of you while you are fishing the area is pushing the boundaries IMO.

Hahahahahahaha

I've been sitting miles away from Paul and pinging him with my radar. Its easy as pie. I watch him leave and then track him, everytime he stops - I press the waypoint button on my trusty GPS twice and rename it PaulG1, PaulG2 etc. I have a bunch of spots.

It even happens

Mon, 2009-05-18 07:31

in Geographe Bay  - i kid you not - drifting for squid and the only other boat for k's pulls up and anchors on my line of drift less than 50m downwind. Not in a good mood anyway as i had crushed a finger on the winch handle unhooking and a hangover to boot. I am very ashamed of my language - not. You have to wonder as the Bay is hardly a hot bed of good spots.

we had 2 boats anchor on top

Tue, 2009-05-19 08:49

we had 2 boats anchor on top of us in the sound when fishing for herring, so we chucked out a ray rod, first ray we hooked went straight under one of the boats and out the back, couldnt of been more perfect, took 3 out 4 of ther rigs out, saw all ther rods load up then snap they lost ther tackle, couldnt stop pissing myself laughing, that will teach them.
