I would have said pe3
But after todays little episode i may lean towards 5 at a minimum. I have never been so comprehensively smoked as I was today. I know that one or two were big sharks, but I also know the first couple were not. Had a hit about 30m off the bottom, OceanMark locked up and just burnt me straight back to the wreck. Next drop same thing. Finally got one up and it was a neat 45lb sambo, followed by a 25lb amberjack on PE3(I was having a rest). Was not even much on the sounder but enough to make me piss.
Mate was fishing pe8 on an expedition and nearly went swimming twice trying to stop them. I am going to guess XL amberjack, but may have been big fat sambos.

pe3 is simply lighter than pe5, really it is another way of saying 30lb or 50lb gear

was at Hillaries ags Jamie,I have always found the ambos there to be particularly nasty, probably because of the sharks that hang around. Was gong to stop jigging after the first couple thinking sharked out, but then got a few to the boat.
