Yep, I get a lot of stuff
Yep, I get a lot of stuff from eBay, fishing reels and line, hooks and swivels too. Almost all my gulps are bought on there also. Never had any issues. My next reel, a Saltiga Dog Fight will come from someone on eBay if the price and exchange rate is right.
Cheers

Have purchased on Ebay heaps of times, only had one bad transaction - mobile phone battery, the rest were pretty much smooth sailing other then the odd delay in shipping.

not sure how important it is
not sure how important it is mate, but noticed the other day on shimanos 10 year warranty card it states "when purchased within australia" reciept needed for warranty.
Just something to think about, I havent bought much fishing gear of ebay but plenty of other stuff and never had an issue!

thats honestly the worst
thats honestly the worst rule i seen, because the 10 year thing is quite useless also why? because alot of people would have lost their receipt or the ink faded off the receipt that its unreadable, "This is how it should be globally"-

No issues
with fishing gear other than the lighter braids - rubbish stuff indeed but the reels and rods are ok if you buy gear that is sensibly priced. Cheaper the price the lesser the quality. For $50 you can an eggbeater or an overhead that works just fine for journeyman fishing.

ebay
yep, got braid, 2 Tierras and recently a Stella 10,000 SW. Never any issues.
Was worried about 10 year warranty, so called Shimano Australia and they indicated that even with the full Oz warranty, they wont warrant bearings (almost always the problem) as they almost always say its water ingress which is your problem.....hence, we concluded the warranty was not worth much .......
May get burnt one day though......get all rods in Oz as transport is usually an issue.

Recently bought a Stella
Recently bought a Stella 20,000 SW for $800 inc posting from e-bay.
Was listed as a 2000, but the speccies and the photo all matched the 20,000.
I got a message saying that there was a mistake and would i like to renege on the transaction,
I replied that i would accept their mistake and please post asap.
