Another 35m

Here,s another recent dive from the last couple of weeks, fish quality not quite as good but crays are good size. The two little crays that look like cackers are an inch over size.

Gday  Quad, the really big

Gday  Quad, the really big boys do have a different taste than the little ones, probably a little stronger or richer. I take the tail off, cut like cutlets and then cook on bbq or pickle. I think some of the issues people have with the flesh not being tender is because it takes to long to cook this size cray if you boil it, so it becomes over cooked. Saying all that I probably prefer the smaller ones for taste.

Them when they are big, just cut the tail into cubes and add some salt, pepper and some parmy cheese and fry it...sooo good!

The tastiest part of crays is the legs, and those Jumbo's have big ones. Man they are whoppers.

I once caught a monster that might have been bigger than the left one (Im guessing from the arm dimensions, but fisherman's catches grow larger by the day) Diving off Rotto. It was in a narrow cave and then a hole. I couldnt get in the cave, and all I saw was feelers. Got the BC off, bit onto the reg and crawled in. The cray couldnt go back because of the small hole, but it jammed itself so tight I couldnt pull it out.

Now I feel guilty about what happened next, but then as a poor Uni student with a liking for crays I had to pull leg after leg off to dislodge it. Took 4 legs before I could get it out. Kept the legs and they were the thickness off my thumbs and tasted supreme.

We had a big "cray" boiling pot on the boat, but this thing was way above that, so legs boiled briefly, tail split on barbie. Asains on the boat next to us exchanged some beer for the head and made a great soup. Wish I had that recipe. It was devine.

Never caught a haul of Jumbos like that though. Thats just awesome. And yes, compared to the rest those look like Kackers hey.
