If they are the ones that
If they are the ones that towed the boat in they should be well and truely sorted for their next sundowner
Officially off the Pies bandwagon

Yeah I reckon it won't just be the coppers looking for them
That was alot of coke, thought it looked it abit weird going fishing in a boat that looked like it would be more suited to cruising the swan or rotto.

Some fishing group
said at the time we were afraid people would go south and fish rough conditions because of the ban.

Where lucky drug guys
Can not drive boats . Agree with sunshine imagine how many family’s will be better off . I bet they’re well and truly gone out of country . Huge cost they owe someone . Plus police after them . Very surprised boat can enter waters and offload their stuff to another boat . THEY SHOULD HAVE HAD A SWIFTCCRAFT :). Glad it’s not hitting streets .

Its actually not that hard,
Its actually not that hard Johnny, and the southern coast isnt nearly as well patrolled as the northern areas.
There is no legal requirement to notify authorities if a civilian vessel enters territorial waters unless it is landing or having contact with locals
Even 20 yrs ago longlining well offshore we would be challenged almost daily by Coastwatch up north, but only ever 2 or 3 times down south.
Sometimes this stuff comes off a ship that is on a genuine journey and just thrown over the side on a float coordinated by phone.
Australia like pretty much all maritime countries worldwide is a signatory to allow the "right of innocent passage" where any vessel or aircraft with legal intentions can transit its airspace or waters
Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
Everyone's just winging it.

Yep your right rob,must of
Yep your right rob, must of done close to 100km on the water last week down here without sighting another vessel apart from a couple of ships going past about 8nm off the coast. It's like this more often than not apart from when it's peak holiday season. The Albany grain and chip terminals are flat out atm so plenty of ships and they sail close pretty close in,and ive never seen police or customs boats out on the water where I fish witch is not too far from there

Customs
When we sailed the boat over from New Zealand in early 2000 and pulled into Eden harbour, we had to find a phone number for customs to get them to come and inspect the boat. They did a quick once over and gave us an envelope to be delivered to customs when we arrived in Fremantle and told not to stop enroute. Our fresh water pump died soon after leaving Eden so we were a bit smelly after a week so decided to overnight in Albany for a shower, good meal and most of all a beer and again in Bunbury then onto Freo.
Customs in Freo gave us a bit of a dressing down for stopping but backed down when we stated we had blown all our fuses on our navigation lights circuits and it would have been unsafe to continue travelling at night.

same between the capes and
same between the capes and further south
its a daily event to see ships going along the west coast and around the capes very close in , often 5-10 nm offshore , easily within in reach of most rec boaters
would be easy as for one to drop a floating package and have it picked up ,,
