The first photo is of Wazza with a big hammer approx. 50nm NW of Port Hedland
Second one is yours truly about to despatch a good tiger on the west side of Barrow Island
Third one is off Hamelin as are the last two, a mako that a heap of small thickskins beat us to it, all we got was the fins and a nice set of jaws that sit in my lounge room

Love the pics mate. Good to see the red beanie. You were a champion in these parts down south. Weren't any shark attacks when you were fishing. How many ton of sharks per year do u reckon u caught?

Hero
Don't know about being a hero but know we were received with open arms when we visited Exmouth when fishing up that way. Even scored free piss in the Potshot [got refused though the first time in because the deckies had run amok the first night there while I stayed on board]
We would stay out for about a fortnight at a time and only do an unload when we had what we though would fill a semi trailer or two. Freezer had a 40 tonne capacity.
Fishing down there was daily except doing the off season when we'd take the reel off and go wetlining. Worked from north of Bunbury to east of Augusta.
No idea on what tonnages caught as it varied from day to day, some real great days to crap the next if you missed them.

Yeh unreal mate. So I'm guessing the money was better up north shark fishing? How do u think you'd go if you started shark fishing again down south? I heard all the fishermans sons are driving the boats and are very lazy so don't catch much.

When
The ones up north were from around 2000-2002 and the southern ones from 2002 till 2005.
They closed the fishery down up north about 6-8 months after we pulled out because of falling numbers and it remains closed to this day.
Would love the same markets and condition we had then to be able to fish from Steep point through to NW Cape, one would make a fortune
