2500 reel for plastics?

hi everyone,

going to jurien this thursday and im thinking of taking my stradic 2500ci4 up there for small plastics, its loaded up with 10lb td-sensor...you guys reckon its worth the shot to give it a thrashing and stop some smaller fish? or not bother..it states 7kg of drag but obviously thats just on paper, whats everyones thought?

Yeh take it up, you could slay some good fish with it, just as long as you don't hook any big sambos! haha

Yeah 7 kg of drag can stop some pretty decent fish. Hey goodz how's your stradic feeling after the weekend did the drag hold up. Just bought a saragosa5000 loaded with 30lb was going to get the stradic5000 but couldn't find them anywhere. Just gotta get the jig rod now

haha the spool was pretty hot after that last sambo I tell you! the drag has done awesome considering the punishment I've given it!

The gosa 5000 will be a great reel, would mind one myself to take over from the stradic 4000. The gosa's are lower speed and have higher drag so better for jigging too.

When we were up at Jurien a few weeks ago, Whitey stopped (or at least wore out) a 12 kg (88 cm) dhu on a 2500.......so yeah go for it!

Again with Whitey but not 12kg but 81cm and not SP, but on jig. I'm really enjoying the Daiwa Bradia 2500R for a 15lb jigger. Its taking a real beating, but its taking it well and working fine.

I haven't landed a sambo over 12kg on the outfit yet though, they all find reef first, but up to that, they're quite manageable.

2500 will be fine..

I use a Stella 3000 FD/Stella 3000FE and a 2010 Certate 2500 for just about all my plastics work, the Stella 3000FD is basically a 2500FD with a deeper spool. I've caught Sambo's to 20kg and heaps of Dhu bangers up to 15kg with these reels, your 2500 Stradic CI4 will be fine mate bring it and have some fun getting smoked.
