Whiskey Sharks

Well after nearly 4 weeks and 4 fishing trips all we got was whiskery sharks, Bob & I got one each and decided to move as after he pulled his up we decided two sharks was enough but the tide was running like a freight train and all we fed the pickers. But we got 36 nice sized crays and a few feeds so we were happy, nice and relaxing time away and the Caravan Park (as usual) was packed at Easter with over 100 boats out of the Easter break (logged on with Sea Rescue.)
Don't know what Leeman is going to be like fishing now as their are 4 pro fisherman and one shark netter, apparently two of the pro fisherman are hitting the Marshall Bank bringing in heaps of dhuie's, snapper etc.

And everybody ginger tablets still rock
went out on the second day down to the corner break (Leeman) by the time we got there the bloody southerly was in and it was rough as, guess what I didn't get sick and I asked Bob if it was the roughest day that I had been out on and he said yes and was quite proud that spewie didn't live up to her nick name. so people please try the blackmores travelcalm ginger 400mg tablets, you WILL be surprised, take with two kwell, 3 ginger tablets half an hour before you go out (breakfast first).
Four days of fishing and yipppeee no spewie lewie

Hi Colin H .. actually the whiskery was
very nice, Bob filleted up and I coated then with breadcrumbs, olive oil, garlic, chilli, salt & pepper then put them on the bbq and they were delicious, Bob's granddaughters just about ate the plate the shark was on, whiskery is very nice.
Also the red shirt fishery volunteer was there when we come in and he was quite excited to actually measure the whiskery's (Bob's was longer) and get any info off of us. Nice young chap, waited till we were out of the water and we yaked for a good 30 minutes.

Sounds good Roberta I have never had the pleasure of catching
or eating a whiskery. How big do they get?

Think Colin they go to about just over a meter
Bob's seen one weighted in at the fish comp's at the Club 9kg. WhenI got it on, boy oh boy kept pulling on the line (winch) and it was so heavy, then Bob grabbed my line and said you ##$$# you've got a good fish on. It fought all the way as the winch was letting out line and I'm bringing it in, buy the time I got it to the surface, it had wrapped itself around the line and just about drowned itself, my feet were up and the rubber mallet came out then Bob hooked one.

unfortunately Nell it is yes, the resident pro fisherman
in Leeman (we know him personally) went to one of these pros hammering the Marshalls and the pro said to him I"ll bring what I like as there won't be anymore fish in 2 years time, so I'll get what I can when I can," that was really nice of him wasn't it. The resident pro f/man also said to him why don't you fish every other day (weather permitting) or bring half your catch in got the same answer and a few more @#$#! to go with it. Fisheries apparently have allowed them to come up from down south and fish to their hearts content. Plus their are also two charters operating from Leeman as well, so what hope do the fish have when you have pros doing this. The amtuer is going to pay all the time, even though we all do the right think for preserving the fish stocks. Just my opinion

Whiskery sharks
Most commonly weigh in around 5-8kg cleaned but have seen them go up to 10-14kg at times, but then I have caught literally thousands over the years
