Didnt see

He didn't see me taking the pic as he was busy digging the far tyre. He came and asked for me to snatch him out, but seeing as I was launching the boat solo I told him nup, someone will be along soon. (first time I've ever said no, only because my gearbox would drop out of my car) 5 minutes later after putting the bog mats down he got it out. He had been there an hour and a half before discovering the mats, lol.

thats classic mate! hahahaha good onya too. When i went around oz i only got bogged a handfull of times as i was very careful where i ventured however i think the final tally was 34 poeple towed out on my return. Some peole are absolute........well hopeless in there quest to go somewhere that clearly u cant! :) I seen 3 disapear under the water at broome while i was there....not really funny seeing some bloke in tears as his $90000 rangerover sport is stuck on a sand bar with a spring tide coming in and not much you can do about it.

Not sure what my tally is for this year, well into the 20's for the first 2 months of work. I was told that I wasn't allowed to retrieve anyone in the govvy car due to liability reasons, unless it was a life threatening situation. Otherwise it would be well into the hundreds! In this part of the country its easy enough to do though, think I've been bogged about 3 times down to the subframe. Having said that, I've also done 43,000 kms in the last 8 months in some of the softest sand country going.

First lesson

Mon, 2007-11-05 17:51

First lesson of 4wd. If you think its dodge, get out and walk it first, check how soft it is, decide your route. Pretty much exactly the same as water crossings. What would have been interesting is if this guy got any further around the point and then realised there was nowhere to go, would have been a new artifical reef at Tanta's. My first 3 days of 4wd training up here were in 49 degree heat, not fun!

Took us 2.5 hours to get this off the subframe. No winch point as there was a hill in front of us and popped an exhaust lift kit. In the end it was good old fashioned digging and the floor mats under the wheels which got us going.
