Yeah im tossing up between

Mon, 2007-03-19 10:17

Yeah im tossing up between the raider barra 6'2 6 to 10kg or the starlo stix big barra 6' 6 to 8kg for a combo to match up for the same reason. Will be running a 400 calcutta on it as well loaded with 15lb for pinkies but also for tossing lures at big tailor around the metro reefs in perth. Im leaning towards the starlo because of the dual hand cast on it which i love and for around one hundred bucks there both good rods. My raider snapper 7'6 is a beautiful rod but just alittle to big on a smaller boat and i just love me baitcasters and overheads through and through. In fact i only own 3 spinning reels and the other 8 are overheads. Ive got a penn power tornament 4 to 6kg rod which is also worth looking at if your in the need. Only a few personal preferences for cheap rods around $100 bucks. Theres alot better ones around if you want to spend the money IMO. But they have never let me down, so far!lol. Would love to get up there soon to try a few combos out on the old shallow water pinkies.

Keep it tight, reeeeeeel tight!

starlo!

Mon, 2007-03-19 10:28

starlo is a sik rod, ive got the 8kg starlo stix as a spare, gota get a reel to match it up w. i use a hand line in the deep water now and all my gear is light stuff really! have so much more fun trying to get a good fish up. makes you work for your catch! I bought a tvurve 2-5kg spin rod but dont like it. Saw the raider snapper rod but they wanted 300 for the combo and i just wanted the rod so barred it for now! The more gear the better i rekon!

Yeah me too, but try telling me misses that! I just cant exlain how i need 4 combos to do the same thing! Shes got me there so i just buy them on the sly now and she says nothing and just goes out a gets a new top or something. Bet she would get more if see realised how much there actually worth. She liked the look of the starlo stix so i got her one as well. Just loves the blue!lol.

im thinking of getting a couple of top blanks and making my own rods, then i can make it to how i like the rod to be. Love the spectrum series rods, got the last verion of the 4-8kg b/caster and the2-4kg plus is a hell setup! using thisarvo for some huge mullet that are everywhere in the river now! should come back up for a trip spess! do some fishing!
