Correct Pete....I personally leave the big ones alone but dont mind taken a 55 to 60cm one every now and then.
Paul would get about 20 minutes at the bottom with the total dive time about 29 minutes, always try and do a safety dtop at 6 metres for 21/2 minutes if air permits. My dive buddies computer is a little bit more conservitive then mind and sometimes he goes into deco. And we need about 11/2 hours between dives
OK kane, some really nice ground out there, a lot of people don't like to dive that far out. Will bo searching for more ground along that depth so we can limit the dive pressure to a couple of times a year
More of a yellow groper than a blue lol. Colour change when larger? Depends on ground they inhabit? Well done regardless. I may have to do the drive south to mandurah to scope this out.
Yellow and green ones are females, blues are the dominant Alpha males and usually have a harem of sheilas close by, when he drops of the perch or gets knocked off the Alpha female grows big and blue and changes sex, Weird buggas .

I'll be putting one on the shopping list when down Hamo in 2 weeks. Haven't targetted one for over 10 years now.
Saw a very good sized Blue last week diving in 45m out from 2 roxs with Ryan. Yeah, 10 minutes on the bottom and into deco at 6m for 13 minutes...which is a long time doing nothing and just had enough air in the tank (had a deco bot at 5m though). Did a 2nd 45m after about 3 hours.
Have to find some good 25-35m stuff to increase the bottom time.
Thanks Daisy. Very interesting....and I hear they are a wrasse too? Just my ticket then..heh heh
Look out BQ i'm headed down some day, but tend to be lazy and local thus far...drive to Mandurah every day for work so like the break on weekends...lol
Good bag mate i shot a 7kg baldy off busso a while back. Around the 27m mark have seen some monsters that make mine look like a minnow but they dont get that big from being dumb ay as soon as you look at them they are gone.

Very nice Baldie and crays too. The yella fish would be a blue groper which is very nice on the tooth.
