Swing Assists

Sun, 2010-12-05 17:09

Very nice Brad. Mate if you haven't already I'd consider changing your jig swing assists to wire. I've lost three doggies in the last four months because I didn't. They're all wire now.

Don't worry about wire

Sun, 2010-12-05 17:31

Don't worry about wire assists. Doggies don't have razor teeth like hoo or macks.

Soupster, if its giving you grief try split ring-solid ring-split rings. Crimps, wire and heavy drags usually end up in tears mate!

I count a dozen or so without the stickbaits.

How many do you burn on a general popping trip ?

10 should be a sensible number, but realistically by the time you bring a couple of this, one of that, maybe one of those that you've never used before just to try...

Less than 30 and you'd be doing well. 20 is a good compromise.

I'd say for a five day trip, two-three poppers burnt would be a reasonable number. Most of the lures die not from getting pinged but rather from being smashed to bits.

Anything more than five and you'd be wincing.

Mon, 2010-12-06 21:26

maybe I over packed looking at that lot??? I thought I was being selective with my gear but you've certainly pruned harder than me. I reckon I'm gonna go 8kg over, but that's without strapping jigs to my thighs for the flight.
