The fish pictured was caught

Tue, 2009-11-10 16:02

The fish pictured was caught by me on my boat.

It was caught off Yals with a whole 40cm fresh squid.

It didnt put up much of a fight for its size, must be getting a bit old.

Dont know what it weighed but I couldnt lift it by myself. Had to get the other guys on my boat to put it into my arms for the pic.

Caught this one the same time and spot last year. This sambo gave a much better fight.

Yes Justin caught off

Tue, 2009-11-10 16:27

Yes Justin caught off Yallingup.

Would love to be able to target just sambos at this spot at the momment but would risk catching dhuys.

Anyone got any suggestions on just catching sambos at a spot that holds dhuys as well.

jig for them..

You would be bloody unlucky to get a dhu.Especially considering the difference in technique between jigging sambos and demersals.

Its in the 40's. Thought

Its in the 40's. Thought about anchoring and burleying to bring them to the top. Then maybe drift or live baiting. Would love to see a sambo hit a popper. Have to give it next time I,m out. Been catching sand whiting in the shallows on tiny poppers. Can see how guys get addicted to throwing poppers.
