gee adam was kind
Gee Adam was kind to us then, we were poppering norwest reef on a big spring runout with a 25knot SE breeze coming around the corner and 3+ swell. Most fish i have seen in my life, but no way would I have thrown the anchor out - didn't need to, we had A stella 20,000 hoooked on to a drift anchor in the form of big trevally on most casts. The current was that strong I was sitting on 2500 revs just to hold station so the boys could cast. I got back in and Adam said we must have been Keen, and shook his head that our car was in the carpark by itself. that said no way would i have been anywhere near it in a 12 foot tinnie - dickheads.

Having been involved in a
Having been involved in a sea rescue at this exact spot in almost exact same circumstances(two peanuts chucking poppers at the back-seaward- side of ningaloo reef out from Tanta's ramp from a 12' dinghy that was swamped), i can tell you 1st hand it ain't much fun. We spent a few hours looking for one bloke who was, as it turned out, washed across the reef, whilst having his mate, who'd been plucked from the sea earlier on board our vessel going spare cos he thought his mate was dead. Honestly, this fella had been in the water/lost for a good few hours, and personally, i had him written off as well. Ryan co-ordinated the whole thing via his radio and exxy sea rescue, and by the end of it, we had up to a dozen or so boats looking for this joker.
Not the the most enjoyable day on the water, although the sense of relief when we found the 'lost boy' was immense. I plucked him so hard from the water he didn't touch the gunwhales- lotsa high fives and back slapping going on. But the fact of the matter is- we should never have had to do that if they used a little common sense in the first place. What they were trying to do bordered on insanity, and they found out the hard hard way that mother nature can be a bitch. Lucky they only lost their dinghy, fishing gear and a bit of bark(skin), could've been soooooooooooooo much worse.

yep
Signifies that the terrorist (tourist) season is nearly amongst us. With the latest whale shark spottings it won't be long before there's numnuts everywhere!
