Yes there are many dog
Yes there are many dog snappers, just not this big from the coast, no boat! There are a number of good spots just off the southern coast where you can catch these tasty fish. I just caght one about half mile off the coast that was pounds.

Grouper
It does almost look like a small grouper or estuary cod in that photo. Superb fish from the rocks thou!
