Heading over to smoky bay -
Heading over to smoky bay - streaky bay for two weeks in April, might have to drive up to cactus as well, the place is great as is most of the west coast of SA, nothing like catching thumper salmon of the cliffs or beach or watching two x metre plus kingies heard small salmon up against the beach at scotts bay.
I'm having withdrawals and should be working :-)

yep gota agree
we killed the snapper out in my 12 ft dingy off the third island (furtherest one out)......full of seals.....
big swell, small boat and big reds........never lost a fish to sharks though.
that trip was 2 months fishing from streaky to Fowlers.....Yalata is one place I wanna fish though for big mullas.....
the locals at Penong were hating us Alice Springs lads.....we were the only ones catching snapper...

You would've given the coast
You would've given the coast a fair looking over in 2 months Damo, you should've stayed for another week and tried Yalata. They are easily the best beaches I've ever seen and fished. Makes me wish I spent more time there when I lived over on EP.
One thing SA has over the rest of Oz is numbers of snapper. If you can't bag out on the west coast you didn't try hard enough.
Paul H- if you make it to Cactus walk and spin the area from Pt Sinclair jetty to the Cactus shacks. I've caught many a salmon and had a some big bust offs walking those cliffs.

yep annoyed at missing Yalata...
yep was a good 2 months........plenty of KG, snapper, salmon and cold beer and have caught 18kg mulla over here. another mate went and has always raved about it.......more incentive to get back
but very speci country.
gota watch Pt sinclair......many a plaque on the rocks to acknowledge all those drowned, something like 14 people including those sharked. smooth rock so be careful. killer KG right at start of jetty, around the wire fence (if it stil there). you see them come in with the tide.
low tide is killer for abs and big ones.
alternatively if you have time get cross to fowlers bay. big fish close from the rocks.

yeah Pt Fowler is even
yeah Pt Fowler is even better and safer to fish too. There aren't many fish in SA that can't be caught from the shore there, but the track to the point can be hard to find at times tho it usually means you have the place to yourself. The whole west coast of SA is like that, a very underrated place to fish.

Nice snapper mate
Bet you were stoked with that! Plenty of good fishing over there in SA and you dont need a big boat to get into the action either. Plenty of glassy days on the water too.
Goooooone Fishin!

Is Sams charter for sale
Is Sams charter for sale again? It was sold a few years ago to a lincoln guy but I notice the website has been down for a while. Pity if it is as it's one of the more adventurous one's in the state.
