Perhaps sent out as live bait. It is not just the wave, look at the sray above. The wind would be about 25kts or above to do that. So if they survive the wave, will they survive the trip???
With my birthplace being South Africa (left when I was 10) I can see why Jaapies dont always have the best reputation for common sense and intelligence. Stupid man!

2 know what happend,hoppfuly they got through ok,I got caught in South Passage Coral Bay a few years ago,I got half way through and a set of creamers stood up,no choice but to gun it a hold tight,I left the water and was air born for a long gut retching time,but landed ok,all the gear in the boat was a mess though
