Lucky Tim and sail

Ewan and Gully were starting to hassle me out as skipper (we had already got 1 bill when Lucky was skippering (I still reckon it was mine even though Tim took the controls about 1 minute before it hooked up, lol) so I proved them wrong and got lucky onto a good sail minutes before calling it a day. Was a top arvo session for a few hours work.

I think it was the day after
I think it was the day after the comp bbq last year. When the sail hooked up no one really wanted the rod, Gully and Ewan were on vid and still cameras, you on the wheel and I was trying to be polite!
And I do remember steering the good ship SS Gully onto that first black too....
If only we had landed a red emperor that night we would have caught a marlin, sail, jack, crimsons, spangos all in a few hours.
Those were the days. You doing a bit of reminiscing up there today???

I've caught sails right out
I've caught sails right out the front of Tantabiddi and South Passages, and also know guys who have hooked them within a few miles of the marina.
They seem to pop up anywhere so would really be hit and miss in a yak. I reckon your best bet would be swimming a live bait somewhere off the top of the Cape or into the Gulf, and have a boat nearby as back up.
