sashimi? :p nice fish, tackle em on light gear?

Yep, did the yellowfin as sashimi, absolutely hooked on it now, was unbelievable. I've never been a fan of raw fish but when its fresh with good soy and wasabi its to die for. Threw all the longtails back, weren't worth keeping. We did get into a few on light gear on the back of Bundegi, had to use the heavier gear elsewhere as the sharks were in plague proportions.

Looks like you guys did mainly trolling and lure casting. What would you say the percentage time was for each category? (looks like 80 / 20 from the photo's and the description of millions of tuna)

Soy and ginger for the whimps that don't like wasabi. (Me!)

We did quite a lot of both and the word for the trip was, thanks to you Andy :) - Adaptability. When we weren't having much success on the troll, out went the free floaters and down went the lead. When the noahs started coming in heavily, back on the troll it was and back into the fish. We had some seriously chaotic moments with Gribbo hooked up onto a 8kg shark mack on the cast, Bolts on a 15kg goldspot on a soft plastic jigged, Mark fighting with a decent spaniard that got totally engulfed by a huge shark and myself on a huge trev on the otherside with 2 free swimming sails hitting the back of the boat. That was just one memorable incident, there were double hookups of 6-7kg dollies jumping through the spread and so many many other periods where we just didn't know what to do with ourselves.

Everyday we changed our tactics, we spent two days for marlin, the first day we went out at 1.30 and had one raised at 2 which smashed Marks lure but didn't hookup and within another 45 mins had mine hooked up. In close behind biddi reef we had the double dolly hookup and then infront of two boats I was smashed by the big yellowfin 12-15kg, should have seen the looks on their face when I released it. Back at the ramp by 5 for the best 3.5 hours of fishing of my life. We tried popping, trolling, free floating, ballooning, slices, bottom bouncing, jigging - light and heavy tackle, the shoals, the islands, bundegi and tantabiddi. The Exmouth waters got a serious workout with almost every technique we had.

I wish we had done a bit more trolling and popper chucking. Sounds like you guys had a taste of everything Exmouth has to offer. Did you launch from Bundegi or the marina?

We mainly launched from the Marina and twice from Tantabiddi on the high tide. Spooled was over from Port Hedland and launched once from Bundegi but we took it back to the marina for the retrieve as it was a very low tide which looked pretty dodgy with 4 lots of bog mats out only just reaching the water line. The trailer would still have to go on the sand which was extremely soft and a boat of any serious weight would have gone down. The council was clearing the ramp every second day but it wasn't doing a hell of a lot by the looks of things.
